POSITION SUMMARY Facilitates safe, productive, and quality-driven operations within the assigned department. Will train as a machine operator/assembler. May fill in as an operator/assembler occasionally. Will help with training of new hires. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Serves as the right hand to the supervisor Leads the production team, providing a good example for others Mentors and motivates team members Assists in maximizing individual and group productivity Makes basic decisions regarding product flow, routine production functions and use of resources May perform daily process audits Trains staff; Ensures operators are proficient in performing required tasks Ensures that all team members have appropriate, well-functioning tools for their jobs Monitors operational processes; Performs quality checks on parts; Monitors the team's performance in terms of efficiency and quality Champions continuous improvement/ISO/quality efforts Troubleshoots fundamental departmental operations; Assumes a common-sense approach to problem solving Develops and maintains positive working relationships with coworkers Fosters positive, productive working relationships among team members Monitors individual team members to identify challenges; Addresses through additional training and demonstration Develops the team to ensure it consistently performs at the required level Serves as the communication link between the front-line employees and supervisor; Frequently reports progress and issues to supervisor; Disseminates pertinent and timely information Enforces all safety and process standards; Relays safety violations to supervisor Fills in for supervisor when (s)he is away from the department Demonstrates knowledge of all hands-on duties related to department Performs hands-on production; Assists in performing hands-on production; Relieves operators for breaks Trains new employees and employees with newly assigned duties Assists supervisor with process improvements and development initiatives Provides input to supervisor regarding employees' performance Consistently enforces company policies, safety standards, quality standards, and SOPs Participates in 6S program efforts Performs additional duties as required QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent preferred Bi-lingual in Spanish and English Competency in basic math including decimals and fractions required Basic computer skills; knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) required Minimum of 1 year production experience with the Molding Department or in a similar plastics/rotomolding role Ability to skillfully perform all jobs within the department COMPETENCIES Technical capacity; ability to anticipate and avoid production issues Consistently displays a positive attitude
