About Siemens Technology Department

Siemens Technology is the central in-house research unit at Siemens and as such occupies an outstanding position within Siemens' R&D facilities. It acts as a strategic partner to support Siemens’ business units with R&D services, protects the company’s intellectual property, coordinates the collaboration with top universities worldwide, and supports standardization activities in all business units and regions. Through its R&D activities in Germany, USA, Portugal, China, India, Japan, and Eastern Europe, Siemens Technology helps to secure the company’s technological future and strengthen its ambition.

What is your role in this?

This role is an opportunity for a data scientist who is enthusiastic about developing of applications in such areas as satellite and drone images processing, industrial monitoring and analytics, power grids optimization, leak detection in the pipelines, and many others. The business demands new ways of data processing, analysis and visualization, as well as performance optimization and process management based on cutting-edge technologies in web, big data and streaming.

What are the responsibilities?

  • Participate in development of analytic components in industrial systems for computer vision, condition monitoring, anomaly detection, predictive analytics, forecasting, signal processing

  • Work with large-scale, versatile and complex real-world data from industrial facilities to produce innovative algorithms and new types of AI/ML models

  • Explore the untapped potential of big data for design, engineering and analysis tasks

  • Make fast prototypes, feasibility studies and devise revolutionary approaches to check new ideas

  • Work jointly with data science and software development teams to create new solutions and products

  • Advance the state-of-the-art in the field, including generating patents and/or publications in top journals and conferences

We are looking for someone with…

  • Commercial experience (3+ years) in data mining, machine learning, knowledge discovery, artificial intelligence, signal processing, computer vision and related areas

  • Proficiency with Python, Poetry and visualization libraries like Bokeh, seaborn

  • Experience with Linux, Docker

  • Proficiency in handling and analyzing large data sets

  • Knowledge of deep learning tools like TensorFlow, PyTorch

  • Great interest and motivation for applied research

  • Good command in spoken English

Would be beneficial to have experience with:

  • MLOps tools such as AirFlow, DVC, ClearML

  • Product development based on ML/AI algorithms, interaction with software development team

  • Generative AI technologies

  • Development pipeline aspects of data collection, organization, and integration

  • AWS, CVAT

  • Additional advantage would be:

  • Degree in mathematics, statistics or related area

  • Scientific publications

  • References or proven successful industry experience

  • Good results in Kaggle or similar contests
