The Manufacturing Engineering Section Manager position will lead a team of manufacturing engineers responsible for process development and process sustainment supporting the front end processes of Circuit Card Manufacturing. The section manager will report directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Department Manager in the Circuit Card Manufacturing (CCM) and Microelectronics department.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • The Section Manager will be directly responsible for managing a functional team of engineers who support the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) process. This work includes prioritizing tasks to meet the customer’s needs, coordinating resources, managing team staffing levels and interfacing with strategic make center personnel and leaders.

  • The Section Manager will also be responsible for training, coaching, mentoring, employee performance development and ensuring each engineer is performing to the standards set by the Factory and Operations Engineering.

  • The Section Manager is responsible for the technical quality of engineering tasks, product compliance and providing critical oversight to his/her team of engineers including staffing and approval of timecards.

  • This Section Manager will possess skills necessary to develop sustaining solutions to technical problems, troubleshoot manufacturing systems and lead root cause and corrective action.

  • The Section Manager will be asked to participate or lead functional or factory improvement projects.

  • This position is intended to be a working Manager and the candidate will have additional assignments in support of the make center.

The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform as a technical engineering leader with a strong understanding of the manufacturing processes and products. The candidate will possess a passion for functional leadership and be able to demonstrate a high level of maturity and emotional intelligence. This position requires direct support of manufacturing activities and spending a large amount of time directly on the factory floor in support of a highly demanding dynamic environment.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced degree in a related field and 5 years related experience

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance after the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

  • 3+ years experience in leading people/teams

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with J-STD-001/IPC-A-610 (Circuit Card Assembly Industry Standards

  • Experience with Surface mount technology

  • Experience with lean principles in a manufacturing environment

  • Preferred majors: Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering Technology

  • Current DOD Secret Security Clearance

  • Experience applying technical principles in the manufacturing life cycle

  • Experience with Quality Systems and their application

  • Earned Value Systems Budget Management

  • Shop Floor Management

  • Experience with MRP systems (ex. SAP)

  • Experience with proposal development

  • Experience with Estimates at Complete (EAC) development and management

  • Skilled in risk identification and risk management

  • Strong engineering aptitude and analytical skills

  • Technical problem solving

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Verbal and written technical communication

  • Customer and company oriented and driven to meet or exceed expectations

  • Ability to maintain a professional attitude to serve as an example to the team and colleagues

  • Ability to work cohesively in a diverse environment

  • Self-starter and able to manage personal and team workload

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
