UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT AUSTIN Sheet Metal Technician in Austin, Texas

Fabricate and repair project components, including air ducts, vents, mixing boxes, exhaust systems, hoods, drain pans, other mechanical system components, containers, counters, gutters/downspouts, lockers, and other equipment, structures, and objects.Modify and repair campus facilities and equipment fabricated with sheet metal, including aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, lead, steel, galvanized steel, and stainless steel. Perform complex design, installation, modification, and repair of various facility systems.Safely operate sheet metal-forming machines, including shear, bending roll, brake, drill press, folder, punch, cutters, crimpers, and related hand tools. Operate soldering/welding equipment in the fabrication or repair of project components.Analyze work orders, plans, drawings, and specifications, and develop pattern layouts for fabrication of project components.Assist other shop trades personnel with project-related duties, including demolition, plumbing, pope fitting, and insultation. Support other project-related activities, such as incidental furniture moves, equipment connections, and appliance setups. Provide support to campus special events. Promote teamwork and demonstrate a positive attitude.Inspect completed work for quality control and compliance with university construction standards, governing codes, and regulations. Ensure conformance with client requirements, project drawings, and specifications.Drive university vehicle to project sites and local suppliers on and off campus. Maintain shop tools and equipment. Perform work in accordance with established safety procedures. Maintain a clean and safe work environment in the shop and at project sites.Accomplish basic shop paperwork and electronic documents, including records for materials used, daily labor reports, and weekly time reports. Maintain records and inventory of shop supplies and equipment.Attend management-directed meetings and trainings. Accomplish other duties as assigned.
