PREMIER DATACOM INC Structured Cabling Technician in Austin, Texas

Job Description

The Technician will install cable pathway systems, firestop systems, various electronic components, various cable that includes but is not limited to twisted pair cable, coax, power limited tray cable, stranded cable, solid conductor low voltage cable, single mode fiber optical cable and multimode fiber optical cable. Cable installation includes placement, termination, testing, labeling and documentation.

Responsibilities

Install: cable pathway systems Install, terminate, test, label and document horizontal, backbone and other cables. Dress and route cable into telecoms closets, modular furniture and other work area outlets. Build out telecom and equipment rooms. Firestop various types of cable penetrations. Test, troubleshoot, and document test results for cabling. Possess working knowledge of ANSI/TIA/EIA cabling standards and the National Electric Code. Understands, adheres to, and promotes the Environmental, Health and Safety policies of AFL Telecoms.

Qualifications

Prefer a minimum of 1 year of experience in the installation of "commercial" horizontal cabling systems Must have the ability to install, terminate and test low voltage cables Valid Driver's License preferred Be physically fit enough to carry materials and hardware, climb ladders, work on your feet for long hours at any given time Ability to work from heights such as man lifts, scissor lifts and rooftops utilizing proper fall protection. Ability to work varying shifts/hours in coordination with project requirements

Working Conditions

Use of small hand tools. Use of power tools. Climbing of stairs, ladders, and/or scaffolds. Carrying of loads up and down stairs. Exposure to noisy or dusty conditions; chemicals and solvents; mechanical, electrical, and/or other hazards.

General hours of Monday through Friday 7:00 am to 4:00 pm. But the ability to provide support during and outside regular business hours is required. Regional travel required. Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Pay may depend on skills and/or qualifications

Job Types: Full-time W2

Pay: $17.00 - $27.00 per hour
