Job Summary: The Color Designer supports the Innovation Center lab by ensuring that color samples are developed in accordance with customer specifications while meeting company standards for quality and performance. This position operates with a high degree of autonomy and requires little to no day-to-day direction and provides color concentrates that support Avient SEM Manufacturing sites. Essential Functions: Observes applicable Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and guidelines. Uses appropriate personal protective equipment. Understands the use of color pigments to formulate color solutions for pre-color applications Compares sample of desired color with standard color specifications to determine pigments required. Utilizes automated systems such as iMatch/Data Color to validate Color accuracy Develops new formulas for color samples which meet customer and business needs Responsible for testing products and keeping accurate logs of samples submitted Maintain a safe and clean working environment. Records, compiles and presents activities and results in the required format. Attends and participates in training opportunities and seminars relevant to this position. Knowledge operation and injection mold machines. Trains and mentors team on making color adjustments. Other projects/duties as assigned. Education and Experience: * High School diploma or equivalent. Associates Degree Preferred * A working knowledge of color theory and at least 3 years' experience matching color in a lab or manufacturing environment * Previous Experience with automated color systems e.g. X-Rite/Data Color * Ability to differentiate color nuances by eye. * Knowledge of the Pantone System would be an advantage Additional Qualifications: * Previous knowledge and experience in color matching applications an advantage * The position requires the ability to work with a personal computer in a Windows environment.
