Summary:

The Idaho Department of Correction (IDOC) has a current opening for a Division Deputy Chief within the Division of Management Services at Central Office in Boise, Idaho. This position will be responsible for planning, organizing, and directing operations of the Department’s business support units statewide, including the Business Support and Financial Management Units. This will include strategic planning and project management planning vision and oversight, in coordination with the Division Administrator. Responsibilities:

  • Direct oversight and supervision of various teams in the division, including business units budgetary management.

  • Hiring, training, and development of staff, ensuring compliance with departmental responsibilities.

  • Develop and mentor staff for career path development and staff fulfillment, fostering a thriving, motivating, and professional staff culture and environment, including cooperation and teamwork.

  • Strategic planning, organization, and implementation for the Management Services division, including leading and tracking progress of strategic initiatives and/or workplan.

  • Administrative problem solving, recommendation/solution development and implementation.

  • Utilize an outcome-based approach by applying data measures and executing data driven decisions.

  • Process improvement and efficiency identification, planning, documentation and implementation.

  • Liaison with other local, state, and/or federal agencies.

  • Engage in collaborative and harmonious relationships with all staff and business partners, stakeholders, operations.

  • Ensure adherence to all legal requirements for the division.

  • Travel 10% to statewide facilities and occasionally to other locations for department and professional needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 5 or more years of experience managing professional staff.

  • 5 or more years of experience analyzing management and program problems, identifying alternatives, and recommending and implementing solutions.

  • 3 or more years of experience preparing and making presentations to groups.

Specialty Qualifications:

  • Good knowledge of accounting theory, principles, and practices

  • Good knowledge and 3 years or more of experience in project planning and practices

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher

  • Working knowledge of the State of Idaho budget development process

  • Working knowledge of the State of Idaho accounting systems and processes

  • Working knowledge of the State of Idaho purchasing statutes and rules, including contract development and monitoring

  • Working knowledge of sound financial management practices and principles

  • Process improvement and efficiency analysis and implementation experience

  • Knowledge of correctional facility operations
