Position Summary:
The Audiovisual Systems Programmer plays a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining audiovisual systems, immersive content environments, and control solutions to enhance teaching and learning and collaboration experiences across our campus. This position collaborates with faculty, staff, technical teams, and campus partners to create sophisticated AV (Audiovisual) solutions that support diverse educational needs. The Audiovisual Systems Programmer is responsible for the programming, design, and installation for all University at Buffalo (UB) centrally supported AV systems across three campuses. They will work with critical stakeholders, project managers, consultants, contractors, and design teams to create integrated presentation, entertainment, and media production systems.
Roles & Responsibilities Include:
Develops programming control solutions for complex audiovisual systems, configures and commissions DSP devices, and collaborates with network and server teams on the configuration and setup of instructional management server (Fusion) and XIO cloud applications
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand the AV requirements for classrooms, lecture halls, conference rooms, and other educational spaces
Program custom audiovisual solutions to meet the specific needs of each environment
Develop and program systems to provide intuitive user interfaces for managing audio, video, and other AV equipment
Recommends the necessary hardware, software, and networking components required for seamless integration
Maintains version control and library of all programs ensuring systems are up to date, firmware is current, and systems are secure
Provide ongoing programming support and maintenance for existing audio video systems across campus
Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to AV equipment and programming
Conduct regular system checks and programming updates to ensure optimal performance and reliability
Maintain expertise on emerging academic technologies and their appropriate applications for learning spaces at UB. Where appropriate, recommend technologies for pilot evaluation in consultation with IT Customer Service leadership. Conduct benchmark research to identify classroom technology support issues and trends.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electronics, or a related field with 3 years of computer programming experience. A combination of education and experience will be considered
This position requires local travel between each university campus and off-campus. Must demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of this position
Ability to write structured application/interface code from specifications conforming to established methodology and standards for AV systems such as Q- SYS , Crestron and Extron control systems
Applicants must be eligible to work within the United States on a full time basis. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visa at this time
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated proficiency in C++, C#, Python, HTML 5, working knowledge of IP based systems and network topologies and layers
Experience with Unity, or Unreal engine
3 or more years of experience working in a highly complex higher education environment
AVIXA (Audio Visual and Integrated Experience Association) CTS , CTS -D or CTS -I
Crestron Certified Programmer certification or be able to obtain a certified programmer certificate within eighteen months of hire
BiAmp TesiraForte certification
Dante certification
COMP TIA network
Ability to read and interpret building plans, blueprints, and schematics to incorporate infrastructure and media systems into new and remodel projects
