KBR Systems Engineer in Chantilly, Virginia

Title:

Systems Engineer

KBR is seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to support our customer in pushing the edge of technology. The successful candidate will possess detailed understanding and experience with spacecraft communication systems/subsystems and operations. The ideal candidate will have experience within the Intelligence Community with a high level of familiarity with standard systems engineering approaches and modeling techniques.

Key skills / duties include:

  • Provide government leadership with analytical, engineering, technical, and administrative direction to facilitate the successful execution of special activities

  • Support the development and preparation of Statements of Work (SOWs), Contract Deliverable Requirements List (CDRLs), Concept of Operations (CONOPs), program plans, and engineering documents

  • Explore novel and innovative data application concepts, engineering methodologies, and technology applications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Expertise in system analysis and modeling.

  • Evaluating systems against user needs and requirements

  • Demonstrate outstanding project management expertise to seamlessly integrate capabilities into existing, potential, and future national and Department of Defense (DoD) systems for optimal efficiency and effectiveness

  • Act as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for relevant users and developers, offering essential technical and scientific guidance as needed to accomplish mission tasks and objectives

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM-related discipline (engineering, physics, mathematics, etc.)

  • Ability to work in fast paced dynamic environment with excellent oral and written communication skills

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of current and projected communication protocols (5G, Wi-Fi, and 6G, for example)

  • Willingness to travel in support of Research and Development (R&D) testing, exercises, demonstrations and training requirements

  • Self-starter who can partner with multiple teammates

  • Active TS/SCI with CI poly is required

Desired Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in STEM-related discipline

  • Strong knowledge of SIGINT operations processes and systems

  • Specific knowledge of the NRO and its processes

  • A grasp of emerging communication protocols and standards at a developmental level

  • Experience with DoD and/or commercial communications satellite operations

  • Demonstrated knowledge of intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) systems(s) and associated data network(s) experience

  • Familiarity with national data processors, systems, and tools for processing, displaying, and analyzing intelligence data

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  • Demonstrated knowledge of high data rate, wideband secure, real-time communications
