Magnolia Plantation & Gardens, one of the nation’s oldest and most frequented historical public attractions, is one of Charleston’s most sought-after attractions in the low country. Due to growth within the company, we’re looking for a new General Laborer for our Facilities team to support the changes and renovations on property. This is a full-time position with benefits.

What you will be doing:

• Work closely with the Facilities team on building renovations and property labor projects, while utilizing and promoting safety processes and procedures

• Load/unload building materials; build/take apart scaffolding, temporary structures, and bracing; maintain a neat and orderly job site

• Construct building frameworks, following mock-ups, blueprints, and plans to meet requirements while using a variety of manual and electrical tools and equipment

• Conduct inspections of structures and property grounds; perform clean-up

• Represent a team-player spirit when assigned other duties and projects as required

Requirements

Who you are:

• You have 3+ years’ experience in a Carpenter role or as a General Laborer with carpentry duties. You have an understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction

• You enjoy working with your hands and have the ability to do so in all types of weather

• You have a valid driver’s license to drive and operate necessary equipment and have the ability to do the following: lift 20-50lbs on a regular basis, stand and/or kneel for long periods of time to perform physical labor-related tasks, and climb a 12’ ladder to perform tasks as needed

• You’ve got excellent communication skills, and the ability to use available technology as needed

• You’re proficient in using both manual and electrical equipment and measurement tools (hand tools, power tools, ladders, measuring tapes/rulers, etc.), and have the ability to read technical documents and drawings

• Due to the nature of the business, this position may require work on the weekends as needed. We’re mindful that in order for you to be the most effective in your role, it’s important that you balance that work with time to rest, so we offer PTO and other benefits to support you
