Job Summary
Compass Group, the world's leading contract foodservice company, has a Great Opportunity for career development and growth here at its North America headquarters in Charlotte, NC as a Sr. New Business Accountant.
The primary role is providing financial support to our field operations while maintaining top notch internal customer service.
Responsibilities:
Provide on-site opening support for new field operations
Provide daily support to new field operations by training operators to use and understand financial information and back office accounting systems
Ensure monthly profit and loss statements are an accurate reflection of the results of the period
Verify balance sheet accounts reflect the correct balance and are reviewed and reconciled monthly
Ensure accounting conforms to the Group Accounting Policies and Procedures manual based on International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
Use all available tools to maintain highest degree of internal control possible
Liaise with the Field Accounting Contract Team to ensure compliance to contract terms and commitments including investments, commissions, profit splits etc.
Analyze profit and loss statement and balance sheet for possible misstatement/defalcation
Prevent earnings management through appropriate use and validation of journal entries
Create and maintain task list items for all operations
Maintain accurate contact information on all field internal customers
Act as a liaison between field operations and other Corporate functions such as Accounts Payable, Treasury, Capital Assets and Payroll
Manage lost business for all sectors to ensure they are properly closed
Identify best practices within the role and strive to improve processes and efficiencies
Contribute to the development of the New Business Field Accounting Strategies and Initiatives
Qualifications:
Four-year Accounting or Finance degree required
3+ years accounting experience with 1+ years in Compass Field Accounting preferred
Demonstrated training ability through field support or leadership experience
Exceptional customer service skills and a positive can-do attitude
Good working knowledge of SAP and MyFinance
Must have the following essential skills: excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational and planning skills; high level of initiative and sense of urgency; and strong training skills.
Ability to be flexible in a changing environment and to handle multiple tasks
Must have the ability to travel approximately 75%
