Google Associate Hybrid Counsel, Devices and Services in Chicago, Illinois

This role may also be located in our Playa Vista, CA campus.

Minimum qualifications:

  • JD, LL.B., equivalent degree, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3 years of experience at attorney-level in government, in-house, or at a law firm.

  • Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law (e.g., have registered in-house status) in the state in which the position is located.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience working on issues relating to AI and emerging technology.

  • Experience supporting retail business, marketing or telecommunication teams.

  • Experience working as both product and commercial counsel.

  • Experience counseling privacy and marketing issues for Google or at another internet/tech company.

  • Familiarity with copyright, right of publicity, and telecommunications law.

In this role, you will support the Devices and Services Marketing teams, first-party Retail (e.g., Google’s physical and online stores), Customer Support and Fi organizations. You will also support the Google Labs and Research marketing teams.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $195,000-$293,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Partner with Marketing teams to advise on legal issues related to advertising, promotions, influencer marketing, social media campaigns, and content creation.

  • Stay up-to-date on the evolving legal landscape of AI marketing, including bias, transparency, and consumer protection regulations.

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of marketing and retail operations related agreements, including influencer agreements, agency agreements, vendor management and supply agreements, and licensing agreements.

  • Manage legal aspects of our retail operations, ensuring compliance with applicable local and international laws, data and privacy regulations (e.g., CCPA, GDPR) and consumer protection laws.

  • Provide legal training and guidance to marketing and retail teams on relevant legal topics.
