Direct Support Professionals Direct Support Professionals facilitate the ISP goals of adults with disabilities and other psychiatric conditions, and work with their teams to provide an atmosphere of positive regard that promotes day-to-day choices, greater independence, and the opportunity to participate in and contribute to community life. Staff learn, practice and model approaches of engaging individuals with methods associated with Positive Behavioral Supports. Direct Support Professionals report directly to the Program Manager unless otherwise instructed. Job Responsibilities Individual Personal Support Provide assistance to individuals receiving services & ensure needs are being met, utilizing PBS training modules. Assist all individuals as needed/required with all activities of daily living in keeping with PBS training modules. Assist all individuals with personal hygiene, including toileting, shaving, bathing, brushing teeth. Personal assistance: which may include dressing, eating, communicating and mobility Housekeeping: laundry, cleaning bathrooms, bedrooms, and common areas. Planning healthy meals, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and clean-up Personal finance: which may include handling cash, accounting for purchases through receipts, as directed by the Program Manager. Program Support Maintain a working knowledge of both the individual?s goals and objectives as outlined in the ISP/IAP/IEP and PBS principles for accomplishing these goals. Assist individuals by respecting individual?s personal beliefs, choices and interests. Remain knowledgeable of each individual?s level of supervision requirements. Follow and implement behavioral treatment plans as required and document tracked behaviors on data sheets. Perform proper restraints as necessary/indicated. Provide input & feedback to managers/clinicians regarding programs & plans, including PBS principles. Complete all required paperwork by the end of scheduled shift: (i.e. data, logs, clinical notes etc) Create opportunities that provide social and leisure activities of interest to the person receiving supports. Administration, documentation and ordering of medications in accordance with MAP regulations and policy Assist individuals with medical care as directed by the Program Manager Perform other work as assigned by the Program Manager or designee Operational Support Ensure a preventative maintenance approach to program upkeep and promptly report maintenance problems. Preventative maintenance: yard clean up, snow shoveling, clearing of egresses Ensure the individuals supported health and safety by maintaining a clean, well-kept environment. Drives Company and/or personal vehicle to transport individuals to their activities. Qualifications Must be at least 18 years of age and have a GED or High School diploma Must have an operational and insured vehicle for use during work and a valid driver?s license. Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred
