This Position is for Material Handling Intern Fall 2024 with a company in Columbus, MS

 

Job Summary: The Materials Intern will help to identify, analyze, suggest, review and document the requirements of a project throughout its lifecycle. The Materials Intern will support the on time completion of the project by working with the project team to keep the project within its planned scope, schedule and budget, while serving as a liaison for the project's technical, functional and non-functional teams.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: The intern projects will include work with the Logistics Engineer analyzing, resetting, updating min/max levels and relabeling all line side operations. Other projects include supermarket expansion, machining hopper leveling/labeling and working with production on Op005 in Assembly and continue through to completion of all assembly operations. Day-to-day responsibilities may also include coverage in various areas when work is needed to meet production and project deadlines. These projects are critical to the accuracy of material delivery and improved line side presentation to include a 5S approach to control of the environment. The intern would work very closely with the Logistics Engineer and the SAP WM Analyst along with building relationships with the line side operators to improve location accuracy and system data associated with line side delivery of parts. 

Depending on the length of the internship, the intern may also get involved in Supermarket and Logistics Center projects that are currently on going as well as provide feedback on improving the flow of material between PEC and CEVA. Additionally, the Materials Intern will: Create, manage, and disburse reports related to the project.  Maintain project assets, communications and related database(s) and/or spreadsheets.  Evaluate, make changes and monitor the overall project. Routinely perform complete or component analysis of the project to keep it within scope. Notify the entire project team and its internal customers about any abnormalities or variances in a timely manner.

 

Qualifications: Currently enrolled in a BS/BA or MS program with a Business / Supply chain Management / Industrial Engineering degree focus. Minimum qualifications include completion of sophomore year leading to a Bachelor's degree. Demonstrated PC skills (Outlook, Word, and Excel; prior experience using Access database system preferred. Excellent organizational/communication skills. Someone who has good Microsoft Office knowledge. A critical thinker.
