Minimum/Required Qualifications B.S. degree in agronomy, crop science, plant science, horticulture, agricultural science or a related field. Experience in operating farm or research-scale equipment. Experience in commercial or research field crop management. Experience with computer spreadsheet and word processing programs. A demonstrated ability to work independently and with others. Evidence of strong written and verbal communication skills. A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity. Must have or be able to obtain an Oregon demonstration/research pesticide applicators\' license and a non-commercial Class C driver\'s license within six months of employment and maintain both throughout period of employment. Position Duties 40% \' Responsible for management of field trials. This includes field preparation, planting, spraying, fertilizing, irrigation, rouging, flagging, and harvesting. 15% \' Responsible for recruitment, hiring, managing, and terminating if necessary, of hourly workers as well as planning, assigning and approving work, under the general supervision of the Project Leader. 15% \' Maintain, operate, and secure equipment associated with planting, maintaining and harvesting field trials plus equipment associated with seed processing. Maintain and order supplies as needed. 10% \' Work in association with other FRAs in the program on the management and conduct of greenhouse and growth chamber operations, quarantine seed increases, and crossing in the greenhouse and field. 10% \' Work in laboratory during winter months when needed on Project Leader\'s research. Participate in data analysis and manuscript preparation related to laboratory and greenhouse research. 5% \' Review literature and electronic sources for conducting research trials and project activities. Keep records and provide necessary reports to Project Leader, including plans of work, reports of accomplishment, statistical reports. 5% \' Development and release of wheat cultivars and germplasm; publication of reports; make present information at field days, grower, industry and regional meetings.
