Team or Function Overview

The Supply Chain team at the Plant handles the planning of raw materials, procuring of direct and indirect goods and services, and both the inbound and finished goods logistics. They are integral to the successful operations and work closely with the Plant and the broader Integrated Supply Chain (“ISC”) team of Category Managers and Leaders for DIrect materials, Indirect Capital and Manufacturing Goods & Services, and Transportation. The Purchasing Coordinator reports directly to the Supply Chain Manager who has overall Procurement responsibilities at the Plant.

Summary

We are looking for a Purchasing Coordinator who will be responsible for supporting Plant initiatives with respect to Purchasing. This position assists in the procurement of materials and services on behalf of Plant departments, administers transactions, maintains files and coordinates with suppliers to achieve the most optimal cost, delivery and service.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure all purchases are made consistent with company policies and procedures.

  • Process requisitions, obtain quotes, and convert requisitions into purchase orders.

  • Submit purchase orders to suppliers and obtain order confirmation.

  • Collaborate with maintenance to understand PO delivery date needs and update POs accordingly.

  • Support Senior Buyer by driving service improvements through collaboration and strong vendor relationships.

  • Support Senior Buyer with obtaining supply agreements, which will fully protect the Company against missed deliveries, shortages and outages, poor material quality and other performance issues that could affect production.

  • Manage new and approved contractors; communicate requirements and maintain files.

  • Develop the skills to identify cost saving opportunities using competitive bidding, negotiations, and service improvements.

  • Actively participate in plant teams to gain an understanding of the needs of the plant operations, while participating in a positive manner to implement, support, monitor and achieve plant metrics and goals.

  • Expedite materials and services to meet Plant’s requirements.

  • Assist Corporate Purchasing with inquiries.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • High school Diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in procurement or related function

  • Familiarity with standard Purchasing concepts, practices and procedures.

  • Strongplanning,prioritization,organizationalandreportingskills

  • Proven work history that demonstrates successful accomplishments of working collaboratively with others

  • Independent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Experience with related software systems (PeopleSoft, Carta, Maximo, etc.)

  • Familiar with vendor networks applicable to GAF’s supply needs.

  • Advanced communication skills and Google Suite proficiency
