Job Description:

Aerojet Rocketdyne, an L3Harris Technologies Company, is seeking a S enior Specialist, Manfacturing Engineer (Additive) for our Additive Manufacturing Technology Center located in Daytona Beach, FL.

The Senior Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer (Additive) should have a strong knowledge of job area and broad knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering (Additive). Manages complex projects or processes with general oversight. Communicates within and outside of own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures. Makes moderate to substantial improvements to systems and processes. Contributes to achievement of departmental goals and operating plans with direct impact on the departmental results.

Essential Functions

The Sr. Specialist, Manufacturing Engineer (Additive) process development and improvements of high profile Additive programs for volume production. The selected individual will be responsible for leading a team to implement new process improvements, advanced process controls, and automation for the production of Additively Manufactured rocket engine components for Aerospace and Defense applications.

  • Lead the qualification activities for the latest Additive equipment to be used in production of components used to support both Aerospace and Defense business sectors

  • Lead the implementation of new processes. This includes the setting up of work cells, design of applicable fixturing, and the training of appropriate personnel

  • Lead process improvements using the philosophies of lean manufacturing and 6 sigma

  • Collaborate with fellow teammates to generate solutions, provide status updates, and ask for help in achieving goals

    Qualifications:

    Requires strong knowledge of job area. Typically viewed as having a specialty within discipline. May have broad knowledge of Manufacturing Engineering (Additive). Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior Additive Manufacturing experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Master's degree in Engineering, preferably mechanical

  • Experience with additive software Materialise Magics, EOS Print, NetFabb or similar

  • Experience with additive simulation software

  • Working knowledge of heat transfer and thermal dynamics with a focus on additive manufacturing

  • Working knowledge of laser welding theory, concepts and/or applications with a focus on additive manufacturing

  • Working knowledge of topological optimization modeling

  • Experience with SolidWorks, Creo or similar CAD software
