Job Overview

This is a role within the distribution center of Simon & Schuster, a 100-year-old book publishing company with offices around the world. The Quality Inspector maintains authority to accept or reject products as necessary, and ensure causes are identified, and that follow-up activities occur with responsible parties to minimize impact and prevent recurrence. Any non-conforming issues are addressed to appropriate management. The Quality Inspector participates in continuous improvement activities to drive improvements in quality effectiveness.

What you will be doing on a daily basis

• Perform visual and physical inspections on pallets checks for wrong titles and damages.

• Use Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to enter and format results.

• Audit cartons using computer software.

• Detect/remove damaged product through the process of auditing.

• Communicate findings and errors to correct departments and supervisor.

• Work on special projects as needed.

Some requirements

• You must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

• You must have careful attention to detail and strong communication skills.

• Excellent math and analytical skills.

• You must have the ability to stand for up to 8 hours/day.

Shift and Schedule:

• Our distribution facility in located in Riverside, NJ and operates in 3 shifts. T his particular role is part of the overnight shift, working Sunday- Thursday (9:00 PM – 5:00 AM). There is an opportunity for overtime as well.

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
