Universal Technical Resource Services, Inc. (UTRS) is currently seeking an ambitious writer for the position of Technical Writer to join our team! This position will require a keen attention to detail, collaborative writing, and interfacing with Subject Matter Experts about technical and engineering content. What will you be doing?
This position will be a key member of the proposal team. Duties include:
Technical writing and editing
An understanding of the Government Contract Data Requirements List (CRDL) document process
Write and build technical manuals – primarily for US Army Weapon Systems, e.g., Abrams, Bradley, Paladin
Serve as quality control agent on all edited materials
Research, collect, and organize content for technical manuals
Format manuals in MS-Word
Assist with library building and maintenance
Attend and participate in strategic meetings
Work closely with the core team, and interface with technical program managers and contracts,
What skills will the ideal candidate have to be successful?
This position will require the following skillsets and experience:
Bachelor’s Degree (Writing or English preferred)
3+ years of writing experience
Prior experience with military service is a plus.
Expert-level usage of Microsoft Word and working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products
Comprehension of MIL-STD-40051-2D
Possess strong working knowledge of XML and tagging procedures.
Ability to understand source code is a plus
Familiar with TM health tools such as Source Verifier (SV) and Standard and Business Rule (SABR).
Ability to quickly learn to use new software
Highly organized with strong skills in communication and teamwork
Ability to switch between tasks and work in a fast-paced environment
Must submit writing sample
