The Salvation Army Northwest Division Summer Waterfront Director in Eatonville, Washington

Description QUALIFICATIONS: 1. American Red Cross Lifeguard Certificate (or equivalent) 2. Waterfront Safety Citification 3. CPR / First Aid Certification 4. AED Certification GENERAL DUTIES: 5. Attend and participate in evening programs and spiritual activities. 6. Maintain a standard of cleanliness in personal grooming and in living quarters. 7. Assist with the clean-up of the total camp at the end of each session and at the conclusion of the summer. 8. Prepare and deliver the Waterfront Director camp brief at the end of the summer. 9. Assist with evening cabin supervision 10. Any other duties as assigned by the Recreation Director. SPECIFIC DUTIES: Safety and Supervision 1. Enforce camp policies and procedures 2. Maintain the utmost level of safety for staff and campers at all times. 3. Ensure compliance with American Camping Association standards of safety and programmatic conduct at all times. 4. Coordinate and implement all program components relative to the daily schedule in a timely fashion. Weekly Responsibilities 1. Organize daily devotions for Lifeguards. 2. Assume direct supervision of the Lifeguard staff. 3. Prepare job assignments and schedules for Lifeguards. Including scheduled rotations at Pool. 4. Direct all waterfront activities in the pool and on the lake. 5. Test and classify swimming abilities of staff and campers at the beginning of each session. 6. Coordinate with the Recreation Director to provide waterfront activities for all camp programs. 7. Initiate a strict water safety program in keeping with Red Cross, American Camping Association, and State of Washington requirements. 8. Carry out pool and lake operational procedures according to Camp Arnold Policy. 9. Provide for the constant watch and supervision of campers and staff during swim periods. 10. Maintain swimming pool, including the keeping of maintenance records. 11. Plan and carry out special waterfront programs in harmony with the Recreation Director. 12. Utilize staff abilities to best advantage in carrying out the waterfront program and instruct staff assigned to waterfront duties. 13. Enforce rules of the waterfront and help in camper discipline. 14. Daily: Clean and scrub bathrooms, deck, equipment and pool area. Vacuum pool as needed. 15. Prior to each swim session, make sure all areas are clean and in order. 16. Know and be able to execute emergency procedures. 17. Organize weekly in-service for all lifeguard certified staff members. 18. Lead campfire devotion when required by the Timberlake Program Director. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: 1. Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis. 2. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects and reach overhead. 3. Ability to operate telephone. 4. Ability to operate a desktop or laptop computer. 5. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 6. Ability to access and produce information from a computer. 7.
