Collins Aerospace designs, manufactures, and integrates nacelles, thrust reversers, pylons and flight control surfaces for commercial and military aircraft. This position is located in Foley Alabama at the Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) facility.

The Tool Inspector and Metrology Engineer is responsible for learning the fundamentals necessary to ensure compliant hardware is produced and learn the fundamentals of Relentless Root Cause Analysis. This position allows you to develop a strong foundation and understanding of the key concepts and processes of Assembly Tooling fundamentals and Metrology engineering.

As a Quality Tool Inspector & Metrology Engineer, you will be contributing to inspection of tool modifications, new fabrications and repairs, digital inspections, software / maintenance upkeep of all sites related digital inspection equipment in helping UTC Aerospace Systems to maintain its standing as one of the largest global suppliers of technologically advanced aerospace and industrial products.

Shift: Monday – Friday starting at 1:00pm

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform inspection task and activity associated with tool inspection, part study and investigations.

  • Perform analysis to production tooling and assembly hardware to ensure compliance by performing root cause analysis.

  • Utilize 3-D Cad system to investigate and to make any tool modifications and enhancements.

  • Utilize 3-D Measuring systems, Laser Trackers, Mini-CMM’s and Creaform Scanners to collect data for analysis.

  • Utilize Microsoft office products to provide visual and digital inspection result presentations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/ Experience Needed:

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field or in absence of a degree, 6 years of relevant experience.

  • U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, refugee or asylee) or eligible to obtain necessary export authorizations required.

  • Experience working with CAD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and engineering drawings/models.

  • Wiliness to work second shift and to rotating to day shift, along with weekend overtime when and if needed.

  • Demonstrated experience in application of Lean through Continuous Improvement events.

  • Ability to multitask, problem solve, and manage resources along with effective time management and organizational skills.

  • Intermediate knowledge and experience of various MS Office software.

  • Experience working with SpatialAnalyzer Portable Metrology Software or Buildit Metrology Software

  • Some team lead experience is a plus

The salary range for this role is 64,000 USD - 128,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
