JOB SUMMARY

The Neurodiagnostic Technologist 3 is an advanced level position. They perform procedures appropriate to their proficiency and according to the facility policy and procedures, included test setup, electrode application, maintaining patient safety and other related duties. The Neurodiagnostic Technologist 3 also works in the best interests of Baylor Scott & White Health and accepts increased responsibility to help and carry out BSWHs mission and goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE

  • Accountable for complete and accurate patient preparation, data acquisition, testing, and providing a safe testing environment.

  • Complies with applicable policies and procedures, adheres to infection control and safety guidelines, protects and maintains patient privacy and confidentiality, and ensures safe work and care environment for self and patients.

  • Observes proper body mechanics while performing work area duties and patient care.

  • Adjusts methods for instrumentation to obtain optimal results based on history, clinical observations and test findings.

  • Demonstrates a high level of advanced knowledge of neuroanatomy and physiology, basic electronics, electrical safety, basic computer skills, END instrumentation, pattern recognition and various medical and pharmacological conditions that influence the EEG recording.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of appropriate action in an emergent situation.

  • Maintains equipment and work area to meet quality and cleanliness standards.

  • Will troubleshoot to ensure optimal operational capabilities of equipment. Reports issues to management or appropriate department.

  • Assumes accountability, responsibility, and authority for daily operations at department level. Recognizes that resources may be limited and considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and efficiency in planning.

  • Initiates and closely participates in departmental quality improvement. Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.

  • Oversees day-to-day operations and productivity and may assist management in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and monitoring policies and procedures, budgets and the allocation of resources, quality/performance improvement initiatives, educational programs and mutual governance councils to achieve departmental and organizational goals and priorities.

  • Is available for On Call as assigned.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge of pattern recognition, artifact troubleshooting and identification, seizure precautions and first aid.

  • Must have critical thinking and problem-solving skill. Must be able to communicate thoughts clearly, both verbally and in writing.

  • Must have the ability to relate professionally and positively and work cooperatively with patients, families, and other employees at all levels.

  • Advanced computer skills, including but not limited to: Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling, electronic medical documentation, and email.

  • Ability to concentrate for long periods of time under stressful conditions while performing properly and effectively.

  • Able to maintain a calm and helpful attitude, even under times of stress, and take appropriate and reasonable steps to resolve issues

QUALIFICATIONS

  • EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent

  • EXPERIENCE - 4 Years of Experience

  • CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS in 30 days of hire or transfer.
