Job Description:

University of Florida Seeking Infectious Disease Physician

The University of Florida Division of Infectious Diseases and Global Medicine is seeking applications for a full-time, Ast/Aso/Full Professor position on a tenure/non-tenure. The applicant will be expected to cover clinical services and contribute to the Division’s teaching mission as it relates to students, residents, and fellows, with the option for VA 8ths. Effort for clinical and translational research projects will be appropriately protected if applicable. Applicants should be board-certified or board-eligible in Infectious Diseases.

The UF Department of Medicine is a national leader in several medical specialties. In addition, UF Health is one of the Southeast’s most comprehensive academic health centers and includes UF Health Shands, a 1000-bed quaternary referral hospital which ranks among the top 50-hospitals in the US News & World Report 2021-22 Survey in six adult medical specialties . UF Health Shands specialties were also rated as “high performing” in five specialties, meaning they were in the top 10% of all hospitals nationally scored in that specialty and “high performing” in 11 areas for procedural areas. The University of Health Science Center has a unique constellation of six health colleges and nine-centers and institutes all located on a single campus. The University of Florida is a Top 5 public research university and includes substantial resources to support teaching, research, and collaboration. The University of Florida Health Science Center features one of only 2 Clinical Translational Science Institute (CTSI) hubs in the state of Florida. The CTSI features a Training and Research Academy for Clinical and Translational Science for early career faculty seeking to develop research skills and pursue careers as clinical investigators. This faculty position may be based at our University teaching hospital or at our immediately adjacent VA Hospital, both of which serve a designated shortage area and/or a medically underserved area/population.

The Gainesville region has an inexpensive cost of living, nationally ranked public middle and high schools, and superb weather with multiple year-round recreational opportunities including biking, hiking, kayaking, snorkeling and cave diving. Pristine wilderness areas, coastal communities, famous theme parks, and other attractions are within a short driving distance. Gainesville Regional Airport provides non-stop service to four major international air travel hubs.

Requisite attributes include a commitment to service, a strong sense of teamwork and a desire to train tomorrow's doctors. Applicants must be board-certified or board eligible and eligible for a Florida Medical License. Rank and Tenure Status will be commensurate with education and experience.

Applicants should have a record of distinguished accomplishments and proficiency in clinical duties, administration, and clinical investigation to include mentoring new physicians, fostering a progressive and dynamic work environment, and promoting teaching and research.

Expected Salary:

Salary is negotiable, commensurate with education and experience.
