Summary:

This Quality Lab Tech is a FANTASTIC opportunity to gain quality testing experience within an analytical manufacturing lab environment with exposure to a wide range of analytical equipment, SAP, QMS, NCR, ISO, and metallurgy. Our client has customers across aerospace, earthworks, energy, engineering and transportation across various countries that they are helping each day. Perform tests and inspections on chemical, dimensional, visual, and physical properties of metal and alloy products at various aspects in special alloy product manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and test metallic samples on chemical analytical instruments, particle size laser analyzer, hardness tester, physical tests, microscope, and other types of analysis (70-80% of your day)

  • Maintain quality records and input data to produce reports

  • Work with manufacturing team on the quality inspection and production needs

  • Adhere to lab and production safety.

  • Assist with equipment calibration and scheduling.

  • Act as lead on special quality lab assignments when needed

  • Prepare addendums as necessary to correct chemistry issues of molten metal against the requirements

  • Effectively communicate with manufacturing personnel and other relevant staff on the quality inspection results and production needs.

  • Maintain and update procedures and other quality documentation as needed.

  • Prepare certificates of analysis to accompany shipments to customers.

  • Enter data into SAP QMS and assist with QMS implementation including inspection plans, routing inspections, material master, and cert profiles.

  • Assist with calibration scheduling and calibration.

  • Act as Quality Manager designee for a special quality lab assignment.

  • Maintain 5S+1 in lab and office areas

  • 70-80% of time this person will be doing chemical analysis.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma required

  • Preferred but Not Required: Bachelor's degree in chemistry or related scientific discipline

  • 1+ year of hands on laboratory experience specifically related to spectroscopy (can be from educational lab environments)

  • If lacking bachelors degree 2+ years of industry laboratory experience required - spectroscopy related experience required
