The Department of State is seeking an Accounting Assistant to join our talented team of professionals. This position will give you the opportunity to processes invoices for payment once approval has been obtained. DESCRIPTION OF WORK The Accounting Assistant processes approved invoices for payment in accordance with Bureau policy and procedures. Additional duties include preparing and maintaining various tracking logs, researching issues with invoices and vendors to determine appropriate corrective action, processing funds commitments and purchase order change orders, tracking invoices to ensure timely processing and payment, and recording payment information on electronic files.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Full-time employment. Work hours are 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch. Telework: You will have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, after completion of a month-long training period on-site at the headquarters office in Harrisburg.  After the initial on-site training, you will be required to come into the office once a week and as needed for ongoing projects.  In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed Internet connection. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or An Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting.

Additional Requirements: Adhere to the values and ethics of the Department of State. Demonstrate professionalism and discretion in your work. Solid written and verbal communication skills. Show initiative and problem-solving skills. You must be able to perform essential job functions.
