Trident Maritime System - Custom Alloy Forging/Metallurgical Quality Engineering Supervisor in High Bridge, New Jersey

Location: High Bridge, NJ

Summary

As a Material Quality Engineer, your primary role is to develop, analyze, implement, and uphold quality standards for metallic materials. Your efforts will contribute to enhancing operational processes, performance specifications, and overall material quality.

Responsibilities

  • Design and establish business-specific quality metrics and standards to monitor and drive improvement.

  • Collaborate with the operations department to identify and integrate quality enhancements.

  • Oversee and ensure the successful completion of technical engineering tasks and deliverables.

  • Supervise departmental activities and personnel.

  • Manage all training requirements, including Non-Destructive Examination (NDE).

  • Develop and maintain systems for measuring performance against set standards.

  • Review customer orders, drawings, and specifications to generate MITP (Manufacturing inspection and test plan) checklists, MET, or MPS.

  • Assess customer specifications to create quality checklists for quoting purposes.

  • Foster communication with all departments, including the shop floor.

  • Ensure compliance with company health, safety, and environmental policies.

  • Prepare necessary documentation, such as submittal packages or procedures.

  • Demonstrate flexibility by undertaking additional assigned duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • Must be a US Citizen.

  • Proficiency in English; Spanish language skills are an asset.

  • Capable of reading, interpreting, and producing documents and reports.

  • Strong verbal communication skills, including the ability to address groups effectively.

  • Basic mathematical skills, including algebra and geometry.

  • Sound reasoning ability to apply instructions and solve complex problems.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Engineering or related field.

  • Three (3) years of experience in material engineering or quality assurance required.

  • Experience with quality management systems and analyzing quality issues in alloy forgings and metallic material properties.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
