Job Description

Position: Electrical/Mechanical Maintenance Technician (3rd shift, Mon-Fri)

Location: Indianapolis, IN

Status: Long Term Contract (Temp to hire)

Come be a part of the maintenance team for a Fortune 500 company on the Northwest side of Indianapolis. This facility specializes in ear protection and soundproofing materials for many industries. We are looking for someone who is highly skilled in troubleshooting electrical components for production equipment.

Job Duties

  • Work from daily production summaries, work orders, maintenance history reports, drawings, sketches, schematics, equipment manuals, written and verbal instructions to plan, organize, assign, assist and check work done by mechanic staff.

  • Verify conformance to standard procedures and quality standards.

  • Work on deliverables in the form of plant engineering and maintenance task, fabrication and prototype builds, fixture design and fabrication, and competition of related documentation.

  • Complete work orders detailing actions taken and materials used.

  • Design, fabricate and assemble unique machine parts to close tolerances as required.

  • Modify programmable logic control programs as required.

  • Review and evaluate equipment performance, identify irregularities, trends and deficiencies and investigate to determine root cause; research and specify best method to correct deficiency; communicate with engineering, materials, production and/or mechanic staff to ensure resolution.

  • Respond to engineering requests for information on planned equipment or material changes; evaluate alternatives, make recommendations, assist in problem resolution.

  • Maintain shop supply inventory at required levels; order addition supplies as required; maintain inventory records.

  • Use a variety of hand and power tools.

  • Operate lathe, mill, horizontal and vertical saw, pipe threader, multimeter, PLC input devices, various precision and general measuring devices, maintenance, machining and production equipment.

  • Detect and report equipment malfunctions

  • Maintain necessary records.

Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent, plus equivalent to a complete accredited apprenticeship in a recognized trade, craft or occupation, or equivalent to a 4-year technical college or university education.

  • 5+ years industrial maintenance experience

  • Electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and repair background, including PLC’s, AC and DC drives, including repair, installation, modification, and adjustments, and injection molding machinery including repair, installation, modification, and adjustments.

  • Experience with extruding, mixing, compounding, continuous improvement, preventative maintenance, Reliability Centered Maintenance, MIG and TIG stick welding, MP2 CMMS highly preferred.

  • Operational knowledge of general machining and fabrication equipment, including lathe, drills, saws, and welding.

  • Organizational skills and general PC literacy.
