FirstService Residential Director, Financial Planning & Analysis in Irvine, California

As a pivotal role within the Finance team, we are seeking a dynamic and proactive Director  of Financial Planning & Analysis . Compensation: $130K-$165K

FirstService Residential will compensate the successful candidate in accordance with the posted range. The salary or wage paid to the successful candidate will be commensurate with experience, education, and specific job responsibilities. For positions designated at a client's property, the salary or wage will also be premised upon the client's directive. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Job Responsibilities:

Â

  • Lead annual and long-range financial planning, including analysis, projections, and detailed modeling, while ensuring accurate and timely execution.
  • Collaborate closely with department leaders and support planning process and monthly financial reporting with clear communication of key data.
  • Conduct quarterly financial forecasts, analyze business trends, and provide strategic insights to the leadership team. Engage in ad-hoc analyses to identify risks and opportunities and support decision-making processes.
  • Structuring, reporting, and consolidating departmental P&Ls with an emphasis on financial integrity and accuracy.
  • Due diligence of M&A targets & onboarding of acquired assets
  • Lead the development and implementation of dashboards and KPIs, tailored to drive business performance monitoring, enable data-driven decision-making, and align with overarching organizational goals and strategies
  • Comprehensive evaluation of systems and software driving continuous improvement and technology innovation
  • Analyze client contracts to quantify financial impacts and billing procedures.
  • Support Sales through contract negotiation, onboarding & commission calculations.
  • Compensation analysis and bonus planning, calculation and accrual for all layers of management.
  • Monitor & assist in managing the workforce through providing detailed insights into headcount, payroll, taxes & benefits.
  • Innovate budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling processes to increase efficiency. Mentor and train analysts & GL team on financial documentation and analysis techniques.
  • Execute specialized analyses for projects, such as formulating pricing strategies, assessing bonus programs, and synthesizing operational metrics for executive review. Ensure efficient aggregation of data for high-impact executive briefings.
  • Conduct evaluations on long-term initiatives to inform resource allocation and investment decisions.
  • Enhance forecast precision and introduce innovative reporting methodologies to bolster executive strategic planning and organizational insight.
  • Support corporate controller through external and internal audits, sampling, and testing

Skills & Qualifications:

Â

  • The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
  • High degree of business acumen and analytical and problem-solving skills. Must be able to synthesize information into actionable recommendations and analyses.
  • Experience in managing the P&L of a large revenue business unit, with a strong understanding of financial forecasting, operating plans, and strategic initiatives that drive operational efficiency and financial growth.
  • Ability to serve as a financial partner to the executive team and various department leaders, supporting strategic decision-making.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling, variance analysis, and transforming large datasets into actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing and developing a team, with a focus on retention, development, and team building.
  • High sense of urgency and the ability to juggle many projects simultaneously.
  • Strong computer skills, including use of Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Education & Experience:

  • Five years of Corporate Finance/Accounting experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Finance, Economics, Accounting or similar field. MBA preferred
