target of this role:
The Technical Illustrator (CATIA Composer) is responsible for interpreting engineering CAD designs and specifications to compose 3 dimensional assembly documentation using CATIA and 3DVIA Composer for engineering and manufacturing facilities. Strong understanding of automobile components and their functions along with a solid knowledge of CATIA Composer, CAD systems and technical illustration experience essential.
Create 3DVIA Composer views using existing CAD data;
Create, populate, and maintain Composer .smg files in Smarteam;
Identify automotive parts/assemblies and their respective modules;
Communicate with engineers and manufacturing personnel to assure accuracy of the 3D Composer documents;
Quickly and accurately correct, edit, and/or update created 3D Composer documents;
Occasionally provide instruction to other personnel on using CATIA Composer;
May be required to create, revise, or edit existing 2D paper assembly documents using illustration software;
Prepare accurate, comprehensive, and aesthetically pleasing 3 Dimensional Assembly Documents (3D-AD) that meet the requirements of both engineering and manufacturing.
Work with engineering and manufacturing to maintain an accurate account of revisions, changes, and history of the 3D-AD.
Help develop, improve, and maintain consistency of the look and feel of the 3D-AD.
Support timing requests for 3D-AD by personnel and overall program timing plans.
Attend pertained engineering/manufacturing related meetings that may affect the content of the 3D-AD.
Required Qualifications: (include minimum Education and Experience requirements and any required / specialized skill sets)
3DVIA Certification or 5+ years of 3DVIA experience required; Undergraduate Degree in a related subject, such as a BSME preferred.
3DVIA Composer and CATIA knowledge/skills as well as SmarTeam knowledge/skills essential;
Adobe Illustrator and/or Corel Draw illustration software required.
Basic knowledge of automotive components and technologies, along with familiarity with various manufacturing processes.
