Position Description:

Represent Texas Tech University both on and off campus to prospective students, parents, staff, and faculty of colleges and universities to attract quality applicants and achieve enrollment goals. Coordinate and contribute to the success of various visit schedules for colleges and universities in the assigned area. Plan assigned recruiting events and programs. Counsel prospective applicants on the admissions process and opportunities at the university.

Major/Essential Functions:

The College of Media & Communication at Texas Tech University is seeking a full-time College Recruiter with a duty point at the TTU DFW Office. The College Recruiter will be responsible to assist with covering the following essential duties:

  • Leader/point of contact for off-campus recruiting for undergraduate and graduate programs, including but not limited to:

  • University recruiting events including Red Raider Roadshows

  • Face-to-Face and Virtual Presentations to high school students, college and university students

  • Parent/prospective student receptions

  • High School and college classroom visits and presentations

  • Drop off visits

  • Attend off-campus recruiting events for the graduate programs, including but not limited to:

  • University graduate recruiting fairs

  • CoMC graduate programs receptions

  • Visit businesses about recruiting into the professional MA program

  • Attend industry organizations such as IABC, PRSA and others for the MA programs

  • Serve as college liaison for HB 5 information related to endorsement areas and career pathways for high school and community college transfer students

  • In conjunction with Assistant Dean for Enrollment Management & Marketing, coordinates marketing, website content, social media for undergraduate and graduate program needs

  • Coordinate, in conjunction with the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs and the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies, faculty and staff members to travel to out of town events with ample advance notice and communicate travel plans so they can work with the designated staff member on their accommodations and travel applications

  • Assists with/participates in/attends on-campus recruiting events as needed/when in town

  • Travel to TTU Lubbock on occasion for national board meetings, alumni events and college-wide meetings/retreats

  • Other duties as assigned

  • All job duties subject to change as recruiting needs are assessed and prioritized.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.A. in a academic discipline related to media and communication

  • Ability to travel

  • Excellent written and oral presentation skills

  • Ability to interact with and build professional relationships with students, faculty and staff members, and employers

  • Experience presenting information in front of large and small groups

  • Experience in project management

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office software platforms

  • M.A. in Media & Communication, Communication Studies or related discipline

  • Previous experience in higher education student recruiting

  • Knowledge of HB 5 and other state policies related to career pathways for public school students in the state of Texas

  • Knowledge of community college transfer policies

  • Knowledge of recruiting software
