The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and work remotely one day. A member of our recruitment team will provide more details.

Responsibilities

The general responsibilities for the Surveillance VP include the following:

  • Working with various trade surveillance and electronic communication monitoring automated tools, conducting reviews of alerts for potential violations of firm policies or applicable rules and regulations, escalating to the appropriate department when necessary, losing alerts with accurate, complete, and organized notes; and listening to voice communications.

  • Adhering to written procedures for each of the reviews they’re responsible for; modifying procedures and submitting them for approval when needed.

  • Driving the enhancement and improvement of the program from both an effectiveness and efficiency perspective.

  • Preparing metrics to report monitoring results to senior management, including identifying potential trends ,or themes that may warrant further consideration or action.

  • Keeping up-to-date with regulatory changes, internal policy updates, and disciplinary actions to determine that the monitoring system incorporates up-to-date techniques and addresses advanced market abuses.

  • Conducting investigations of potential issues as necessary.

Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • At least 7+ years of experience in banking or broker-dealer operations or compliance

  • Previous experience with any monitoring tools a strong plus

  • Series 7 or Securities Industry Essentials (SEI) exam a plus

  • Excellent analytical skills

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and escalate issues appropriately

  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships across multiple departments

  • Team player and ability to work collaboratively

  • Native-level proficiency in the English language, both verbally and in writing is required. Fluency in Japanese and/or Portuguese is a plus

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

The typical base pay range for this role is between $126k-$194k depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
