The Walt Disney Company Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer in Lake Buena Vista, Florida
The Disney Decision Science and Integration (DDSI) team is responsible for supporting clients across The Walt Disney Company (TWDC) including Disney Experiences (Parks, Cruise Line, Consumer Products, etc.), Disney Entertainment (ABC, The Walt Disney Studios, Disney Theatrical, Disney Streaming Services, etc.), ESPN, and Corporate Finance. DDSI leverages technology, data analytics, optimization, and statistical modeling to build innovative tools that shape business decisions and drive business value. DDSI builds and manages strategic applications that enable internal business decision-makers to view and manage data related to decision science workflows.
The Senior Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer on the DDSI team will be a hands-on QA professional and innovator that enjoys working in a cutting-edge environment. In this role, you will lay the groundwork for DDSI’s quality assurance efforts. You will use your prior quality assurance experience to create DDSI’s product test strategy and develop a process to manage test plans and test cases from design to execution. You will partner with DDSI project teams to direct them through the process. This role requires a detail-oriented mindset, a passion for quality, an ability to self-manage, and a collaborative work ethic.
Your Role:
Establish team-wide software quality assurance processes and best practices
Create, own, and evangelize the team’s overall product test strategy
Lead the quality assurance efforts for a portfolio of web-based analytic applications
Assure project quality requirements are met by developing test plans, tracking test coverage, executing tests, automating processes, and communicating results
Collaborate with Product Managers on test plans and test cases to align with project scope and requirements
Collaborate with Application Engineers to integrate testing with automation and CI/CD processes
Collaborate with Data Engineers to create test cases to validate data requirements
Collaborate with Data Scientists on methodologies to test expected model outputs
Estimate effort for quality-related tasks and schedule tasks within cross-functional project plans
Develop metrics and processes to track system health across all lifecycle environments
What We’re Looking For:
Proficiency in software quality processes, best practices, and current trends
2+ years of experience leading quality assurance efforts from start-to-finish for web-based application projects
Experience tracking test coverage, requirements traceability, quality status, and risks
Experience with QA/Test Management tools such as TestRail, Qase, Jira or similar
Experience with Test Automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Robot Framework or similar
Experience with API Testing tools such as SoapUI, Postman or similar
Ability to review test results and diagnose issues
Ability to lead group discussions with a cross-functional team on quality-related topics or issues
Ability to articulate creative solutions to complex testing problems
Good instinct for determining when unexpected test outcomes require urgent corrective action
Ability to work with other team members to review technical project plans and estimate task effort
Ability to communicate, collaborate and compromise with other team members and leaders
How To Stand Out:
Experience in AWS cloud-native web applications
Experience in React, Python, and/or Django
Experience with SQL and Snowflake
Experience with decision science/analytics applications
Experience with Performance and Load Testing tools
Experience with resiliency testing techniques such as chaos engineering
Master's degree in a technical field or equivalent
Minimum Requirements:
5+ years of technical software development & testing experience with increasing levels of responsibility in the quality assurance engineering domain
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, relevant technical/engineering field, or a non-technical degree with equivalent practical experience
