Argonne National Laboratory Administrative Assistant in Lemont, Illinois

Argonne's Radiological Protection Division is seeking an experienced Administrative Assistant to join their team. This role is responsible for providing a broad range of clerical and technical services.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain Internal and External Dosimetry records within the Radiation Protection Division (RP).

  • Prepare and issue External Dosimetry to personnel.

  • Enter personnel into the Argonne dosimetry database application.

  • Maintain External Dosimetry Group (EDG) qualifications.

  • Scan and upload records into the electronic data retention system.

  • Collect file information and prepare radiation exposure histories (including but not limited to: NIOSH, DOL, EEOICPA).

  • Prepare and respond to exposure requests.

  • Provide assistance in support of dosimetry issuance and process.

  • Support data retrieval during audits and/or assessments.

  • Make editorial revisions to local policies and/or procedures.

  • Enter procurement requisitions for supplies and equipment.

  • Manage and maintain inventory of consumable items.

  • Schedules and coordinates meetings, conferences, and associated travel arrangements.

Position Requirements

  • Must meet all the requirements of the qualification process and annual requalification as outlined in local procedures.

  • Meticulous level of attention to detail.

  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment.

  • Ability to strictly follow local and lab-wide policies and procedures.

  • Oral and written communications skills, as well as interpersonal skills when interacting and communicating with a variety of internal and external contacts.

  • Experience with scheduling office activities.

  • Experience working with confidential and personal identifiable information (PII).

  • Ability to be discreet with business sensitive information.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 applications and services.

  • Ability to learn business systems used to support RP and Lab-wide business.

  • Experience in a previous position requiring independent judgment, additional specialized training in office management skills is desirable.

The selected candidate will be placed at the appropriate level (SA2 or SA3) dependent upon depth and breadth of relevant knowledge and skills brought to the position, as well as the amount of relevant experience. The requirements of the various levels are as follows:

  • SA2 Level: High school and 4+ years of related experience

  • SA3 Level: High school and 8+ years of related experience
