Job Description

Lab Technician (12-month contract) St. Paul, MN


Job Summary:

Technician/Technologist needed to lead or support the development of new products in Energy Markets. Duties will include supporting extrusion pilot line trials and accelerated weathering studies to guide decisions on materials and constructions.


  • Closely interacting with scientists as a team to carryout experiments and testing.

  • Documenting observations and results in technical notebooks. Assisting in data summarization and preparation of final reports. Reporting test results to appropriate staff.

  • Performing equipment calibrations and standardization to ensure accurate calculations of test data.

  • Performing routine lab duties including shipping and storing of customer samples.

  • Operating extruders/equipment.

  • Supports extrusion projects and takes direction from technical employees.

  • Supports start up and shut down of extruders and dies including assembly and disassembly.


  • Possess an Associates/Two (2) year technical degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in a laboratory setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution

  • Able to accept projects from multiple team members, prioritize, and complete with little supervision

  • Work well in a team environment and able to handle changing project priorities

  • Experience with adhesives

  • Experience working on a cross-functional team

Additional notes:

Worker performs chemical, biological, physical, and/or mechanical analyses and tests required for research, development, or quality control of processes and products. Assists with compiling, analyzing, interpreting, and documenting results. Ability to follow procedures and methods and to work well on a self-directed team is required.
