This role is positioned to drive the success of the "New Health Care Company".The Impact You'll Make in this RoleAs a member of the preclinical team, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:Responsible for animal husbandry and welfare in a state-of-the-art US Government inspected facility. Supporting 3M Heath Care Businesses with new product development and technologies in their preclinical facility.A willingness to work some weekend and holiday shifts (typically less than 4 hours per day) and an occasional afterhours call in are required.Coordinates and performs all clinical/surgical activities, including scheduling use of facilities, equipment and clinical treatment areas and work assignments. Includes pre- operative care, anesthesia and anesthesia monitoring, manages vital sign parameters including heart rate, respiratory rate ( /- mechanical ventilation), SPO2, EtCO2, body temperature, and blood pressure (both invasive and non-invasive) and post-operative care of large and small animal species.Maintains the operating room, performs minor surgeries, fluoroscopic procedures, and surgery under the supervision of the veterinary staff or qualified laboratory personnel.Manages all inventory of the clinic, including purchasing, stocking, recordkeeping, and removing outdated supplies, identifies purchases and recharges medications, surgical supplies, maintains and DEA controlled substance records, prepares clinic area for inspections, such as AAALAC, USDA, and IACUC and ensures all regulations are being met.Must be able to lift 50 lbs.Previous experience in an academic/biomedical research environment.Must be able to work well under limited supervision.Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M r quires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelor's Degree or higher completed and verified prior to start AND two years of preclinical experience.ORVeterinary Technician degree and four years of preclinical experience.Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Previous work with studies involving animals.Surgical and anesthesia experienceAbility to interact and communicate effectively, oral and written, with faculty, investigators, administrators, staff and outside vendors.Ability to initiate problem solving and to prioritize tasks.For current employees, internal transfer restrictions may not apply.
