In this role, the successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring product quality assurance support for our Product Realization Process, in accordance with automotive customer requirements and the Automotive Industry Expectations of IATF 16949.The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong background in quality engineering within the automotive industry, with a deep understanding of IATF 16949 requirements and APQP processes. They should possess excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, along with a commitment to continuous improvement, are also essential.As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:Working closely with manufacturing, laboratory, and quality functional leaders across multiple divisions, both locally and globally, to drive standardization for processes and records related to APQP. This includes ensuring that all APQP-related activities, such as control plans, process flow diagrams, and inspection instructions, are standardized and consistently implemented.Key responsibilities of the Senior Quality Engineer will include:Providing quality assurance support for the Product Realization Process, ensuring compliance with automotive customer requirements and IATF 16949 standards.Acting as the quality lead for New Product Introduction projects, guiding the team through the APQP process.Collaborating with manufacturing, laboratory, and quality functional leaders globally to drive process standardization for APQP.Conducting thorough analysis of quality data, identifying trends, and implementing corrective actions to improve product quality.Leading and participating in cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and implement continuous improvement initiatives.Developing and maintaining quality documentation, including control plans, process flow diagrams, and inspection instructions.Conducting internal and external audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.Providing training and support to team members on quality tools and methodologies.Your Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelorsdegree or higher in an engineering or science discipline(completed and verified prior to start)Three(3) years ofcombinedexperiencein a Manufacturing, Production,Qualityand/or Laboratory role in a private, public, government or military environmentFive (5) years of Experience in Automotive IndustryAdditional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:Bachelors degree or higher in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline from an accredited universityExperience in automotive quality management system (IATF 16949) & (AIAG) Core Tools such as Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Production Part A proval Process (PPAP).Qualified and experienced in the evaluation of technical product and process risks (e. g., FMEA facilitator, VDA 6.3 process auditor, designer/developer)Certifications in quality engineering, quality auditing or quality management according EOQ standard or comparableMicrosoft Office proficient, Minitab or another statistical tool a plusWork location:Hybrid Eligible (Job Duties allow for some remote work but require travel to 3M Headquarter in Maplewood MN at least [3] days per week)Travel: May include up to 20% domestic/internationalRelocation Assistance: May be authorizedMust be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).Supporting Your Well-being3M offers many programs to help you live your best life both physically and financially. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
