Overview

Introduction to drafting and design support during the planning, design, and construction of civil engineering projects.

Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction

  • Perform work under direct supervision of an experienced professional and follow established procedures and clearly defined processes.

At the Operational and Company Level

  • Interact with multiple departments and peers within the organization and participate in intern program learning and development opportunities.

Do the Work

  • Draft plans/mark-ups for the purpose of creating construction documents.

  • Obtain work assignments of either specific design elements or CAD drafting duties from project manager with allocated budgets.

  • Perform non-routine and complex assignments from verbal instructions under minimum supervision.

  • Review all work for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting for review.

  • Revise plans according to client, manager, or reviewer comments.

  • Assist in organizing, creating, and maintaining all CAD or CAD related files for clients, town, or county intake.

  • Delegate responsibilities for submitting plans on time.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Enrollment in community college courses, a college degree program, certificate program preferred.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience using CAD standards preferably in the land development industry.

  • Must have experience with AutoCAD design software.

  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

  • Primarily indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.

  • Mobility around an office environment.

  • Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
