Health First HFMG Patient Service Specialist III - Gynecology Oncology in Melbourne, Florida

POSITION SUMMARY:

To be fully engaged in providing Uncompromised Safety, Superior Quality, Memorable Patient/Customer Experiences, and Financial Stewardship by ensuring the quality of all pre arrival services including scheduling, pre-registration, insurance verification, financial clearance.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Quality/No Harm:

  • Accurately schedule and/or pre-register all modalities at Health First facilities by phone, fax, and electronic orders.
  • Ensure all information is complete, legible and correctly signed by physician on required scripts prior to scheduling procedures.
  • Verification of insurance information is obtained on all patient accounts containing insurance.
  • Follow up and /or forward necessary information to appropriate individuals or departments to complete registration process.
  • Must be able to meet and maintain the performance standards required for this position.
  • 90 calls minimum for scheduling or average 50 pre-registrations for Pre Reg per day.

Customer Experience:

  • Provide superior customer service.
  • Provide registration and other job requirements to meet the patient/family needs.
  • Maintain successful relations with other Patient Business Services areas, Health First associates and physician office.

Stewardship:

  • Financial Counseling.
  • POS Collections to include co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance.
  • POS Collections - multiple options – prompt pay discount, payroll deduction, waiver of assignment of benefits.
  • Encourages economic use of supplies and equipment to meet customer requirements.
  • Bad Debt Screening.
  • Charity screening and qualifications.
  • Price estimates and quotes.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Excellent communications/interpersonal skills.
  • Typing 45 WPM.
  • Medical Terminology desired.
  • Previous office experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs preferred.
  • Demonstrates ability to relate well to all customers.
  • Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize to maximize quality, value and service.
  • Working knowledge of managed care payors and Medicare regulations preferred.
  • Experience working in multiple systems: STAR, WebPay, SCI, TRACE, OF, DDE, Multiple Payor websites, etc.
  • Successfully completes all required training programs, in-services, and annual competency validation within designated time frames.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to work with computer monitor for prolonged periods of time.
  • Subject to rotating weekend/holiday schedules.
  • Occasionally subject to irregular hours.
