Job Description

The Digital Lab Email Product Owner is part of the Channel Platforms & Content Optimization team and will be responsible for onboarding, training, and leading a team of email specialists who create emails for non-personal promotion and home office and field communications with healthcare professionals, consumers, and patients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Onboard, train, and lead high performing team of email specialists who are responsible for iterative email creation, management, and oversight of brand emails including confirming requirements with brand marketing, creating emails, routing through the material review process for approval, sharing project plans and project status reports, conduct status meetings, follow up / communicate with all stakeholders to ensure on-time, flawless execution of emails.

  • Support needs and delivery plans with Consumer, Patient and HCP CRM team members to drive effective end-to-end campaign planning and deliver flawless execution of the email content.

  • Manage, coach, and develop team to:

  • Learn the business for their respective therapeutic areas/brands.

  • Effectively work with multiple departments and agencies throughout project development and implementation to keep projects on time and ensure all requirements are met.

  • Proactively manage workload and continuously look for ways to improve brand emails to meet brands' objectives and goals by reviewing performance, identifying optimization opportunities, and communicating them to the marketing team.

  • Develop and maintain project documents, timelines, proofing checklists, and status reports. Possess minute-by-minute knowledge of all work in progress, and identify risks and ways to mitigate issues.

  • Partner with cross-functional / agency teams to create processes to capture requirements, gain approvals, document metadata, and verify data elements needed to execute emails.

  • Document change requests, notify the team, and understand timeline implications. Seek standardization, automation, and process improvement wherever possible to deliver on the vision for the team of faster, better, cheaper year over year.

  • Prioritization workload across team members, support several brands at a time, and can constantly shift gears to address current and future business needs. Ensure the team provides exemplary customer service while setting and maintaining client expectations.

  • Manage budget for enterprise support and manage email tool licenses across AbbVie and agency partners.

  • Ensure high quality, on-time, and error-free implementation, testing, and QA of emails within the email creation platform. Employ standard quality control processes and procedures throughout the entire setup process to ensure accuracy and completeness.

  • Oversee and support Issue Management from identification through resolution and ensure corrective/preventative action is implemented for email builds, rendering, and campaign tracking.

  • Create, own, and maintain the email product playbook, enhancing our ways of working overtime to further reduce timelines and handoffs to increase speed to market. Ensure all teams creating email, internal and external, are following the playbook which covers capturing/documenting requirements, email workflow process, and ensuring we maintain high 1st pass rates and socialize across the organization,

  • Collaborate with various internal/external leaders to define, execute, and optimize email creation and processes. Cross-functional teams include Brand Marketing, Strategy, Business Technology Solutions, Marketing Analytics & Business Insights, and Creative and Digital Agencies.

  • Keep abreast of 1:1 marketing and email industry best practices and new technology by participating in professional organizations, as well as attending industry seminars and conferences. Provide thought leadership, recaps and how industry advancements can be applied to AbbVie.

  • Prepares well-organized, clear, and concise communications and sets clear expectations. Conducts quarterly business reviews and audits with leadership.

  • Manage migration to email platform for holistic enterprise-supported standardization of email build approaches and email capabilities.

  • Evolve and own the Knak platform and deliver incremental capability improvements as needed to support the business.

  • Assess and monitor long-term capability needs and drive improvements in the operating model, capability support model and team support

  • Drive resource management and capacity planning year over year to ensure effective support for the overall workload and volume of work managed by the team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Marketing or equivalent experience

  • 10+ years of experience of Email Marketing Experience creating, building and executing emails

  • Experience building and leading high performing team (3+ years’ experience) of email specialists

  • Digital marketing or interactive agency experience is a plus

  • Ability to think strategically with a strong ability to execute and exceed stakeholder expectations and project goals.

  • Ability to work and lead initiatives independently without day-to-day supervision.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Strong client service and project management skills; in particular, must have the ability to communicate with both business and technical individuals effectively

  • Expert knowledge of email with HTML/CSS experience and email rendering tools (ie. Litmus, etc.)

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Experience in Pharma preferred but not required.

Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
