ESSENTIAL COMPETENCIES:

Sensory Requirements: Ability to communicate with others via telephone; ability to read written documents.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within this particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.

Processes orders, prepares correspondence and fulfills patient’s needs to ensure customer satisfaction. Performs all procedures according to protocol.

Assists in orientation and skill development of other staff, and students in order to assure a smooth transition in their roles.

Responsibilities include scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, and otherwise relieving officials of clerical work and minor administrative and business detail.

Responsible for organizing and overseeing the patient record keeping activities pertaining to releasing and retrieving medical records.

Ensures all medical records are released according to HIPAA guidelines.

Directs daily record processing to ensure that discharge records are properly received, organized, and forwarded to the appropriate physician for completion.

Revises patient medical records to guarantee compliance with institution standards, procedures and policies.

Researches and resolves complaints to ensure customer retention and satisfaction. Ensure annual competency is performed and documented.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

Meets hospital-wide requirements by submitting annual tuberculin test and any other medical required for job classification and attends necessary in-service/education programs.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The position requires considerable amount of physical work not to exceed 50 pounds. This work may involve but not limited to lifting, carrying, pushing or repositioning of objects, pieces of equipment or patients.

  1. Physical Environment: Favorable working condition in Hospital setting

  2. Occupational Safety and/or Health Risks: Potential exists for daily exposure to radiation, infectious blood/body fluids and tissue and minimal exposure to other bio hazardous materials, such as cleansing agents.
