The Senior Machinist and CNC Programmer position for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible for leading machine shop operations in the fabrication of prototype and low-volume production parts for R&D and new product development programs.

This position is part of the Hematology R&D Hardware department located in Miami, Florida. Work associated with this position will require on-site presence Monday-Friday. At Beckman Coulter, our vision is to relentlessly reimagine healthcare, one diagnosis at a time.

As a Senior Machinist and CNC Programmer, you will be a part of the Hematology R&D Mechanical Design Team, report to Nicolas Zamora, and be responsible for prototyping and fabricating low-volume production parts for new and existing hematology instrument products. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Lead machine shop operations and run shop equipment (CNC mill, CNC plasma cutter, manual lathes, grinders, presses, bandsaws, tumblers, drill presses, etc.) to prototype next gen hematology technologies and accelerate design iteration cycles.

  • Program Haas VF-2 CNC mills with ProE (and/or Solidworks) CAM using engineering drawings to machine high precision metal and plastic medical device prototypes.

  • Support R&D and Sustaining departments with fabrication of machined and sheet metal prototypes and production parts while providing valuable feedback to Engineering team to reduce cost and complexity of parts.

The essential requirements of the job include:

  • High school diploma or a GED equivalent and 8-10+ years of experience programming, operating, and maintaining CNC mills, and manual mill and lathe machines.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM) software (SolidWorks CAM or ProE CAM) for programming Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines.

  • Experience measuring parts and performing first-article inspections using GD&T and measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, indicators, gauge blocks, pins, etc.

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Sheet-metal fabrication, including CNC plasma jet cutting and hydraulic or manual press brake bending equipment.

  • Lapping and grinding.
