Tennant Company is hiringan NPD Supplier Quality Engineer at our Global Innovation Center in Minneapolis, MN. The New Production Development (NPD) Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for proactively managing supplier quality activities during the new product development process. You will identify areas of quality improvement by working with several cross functional teams in NPD, Engineering, Operations, and Global Supply to implement programs of strategic innovation to Tennant's strong product quality. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and effectively manage the successful execution of the part approval plan & supplier development opportunities within assigned categories Drive a structured approach, with suppliers, during the NPD phases utilizing tools such as capability assessments, process mapping, PFMEA, and part qualification - Material Design Review and First Articles Facilitate supplier reviews encompassing supplier design simulation, testing, and validation activities to ensure delivered quality at both the prototype and product launch phase Work with procurement, supplier quality and design personnel to ensure alignment between supplier capability and design requirements Partners with design engineering team to review component drawing including tolerance, GD&T and identify areas of improvement Initiates and authors deviations, participates in Engineering Change Order (ECO) workflows for the release of production parts Participates in the development of project plans, schedules, and metrics. Tracks and reports progress to leadership Actively identify areas of risk with mitigation plans to ensure project execution and work with global quality team to address and mitigate plans Communicate and enforce Tennant's supplier manual and performance expectations Cultivate and maintain relationships with open communication to key internal work partners and suppliers Own and lead continuous improvement activities to see a step-change improvement in NPD product and supplier quality REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION Bachelor's degree in Engineering Strong knowledge in quality tools and methodologies Ability to interpret engineering drawings, requirements, and specifications Experience in defining, executing, and continuously improving component qualification/certification/audit specifications MS Office, SAP, or related ERP experience REQUIRED INTERPERSONAL & BEHAVIORAL SKILLS: Results oriented with a strong focus on quality systems High level of customer service and collaboration skills Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally, while maintaining a client service orientation self-driven management and decision making.
