PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: As the Supervisor Rail Testing you will operate CPKC owned ultrasonic test equipment. Provide accurate information on the results of the days work that will trigger rail replacements. POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES: Drive CPKC owned vehicle and rental cars to locations to perform daily testing Work as a team to ensure truck is fully staffed throughout the year Operate and maintain CPKC owned ultrasonic rail testing equipment on various segments on their assigned territory Calibrate and ensure equipment is up to standards to perform quality inspections Responsible for daily contact with the Roadmaster for collaborative ways to keep Rail Flaw Detection equipment on schedule and hit production targets Take track protection and abide by all safety rules to ensure everyone goes home safe Perform quality work ensure the safe passage of trains in compliance with the SPC and Red Book by issuing the appropriate protective slow orders Required to be on call on a regular basis outside of normal business hours and workdays Work 2 weeks ON and 1 week OFF schedule (travel required to get to work and back home) POSITION REQUIREMENTS: High School diploma or GED Drivers License Commercial Drivers License is an asset Previous Rail road experience is an asset Trained in Rail Flaw Ultrasonic testing is preferred but not required Instrumentation and testing experience in other disciplines is an asset High proficiency in using a computer and troubleshooting ability Proficiency in using tools to make mechanical repairs to equipment Strong interpersonal communication skills WHAT CPKC HAS TO OFFER: Flexible and competitive benefits package Competitive company pension plan Employee Share Purchase Plan Performance Incentive Program Annual Fitness Subsidy ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: As an employer with national presence, the possibility does exist that the location of your position may be changed based on organizational requirements. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer.
