Google Apps Strategy Lead, Google Play, Product Operations in Mountain View, California

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

  • 11 years of experience in management consulting, product management and strategy, or analytics in a technology company.

  • Experience working with and analyzing data, and managing multiple cross-functional programs or projects.

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA degree.

  • 10 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, financial and headcount management.

  • Knowledge of mobile ecosystems and app store platforms.

  • Ability to communicate and influence effectively by presenting data in a compelling way, tailored to the needs of disparate stakeholder groups.

  • Ability to identify ambiguous problems, develop effective solutions and implement them.

  • Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform products, marketing, or business strategy.

Product and Business Strategy Leaders bring together teams across Google’s functions to help products execute optimally. Our team pushes Google to scale at key points that refine our products and infrastructure by executing efficiently, bringing solid business sense and sound judgment, and working effectively across organizational lines.

Our roles often include components of strategy (e.g. analyzing and understanding new trends in the industry, building business plans), operations (e.g. running the cadence of organizations, connecting the operating lines between our functions), and communications. Our team partners with senior leadership to run important functions that cross-cut our existing organizations and deliver high impact projects. We help Engineers, PMs, UX, and all of our other functions to build amazing products that delight our users, and then get those products into their hands.

As an Apps Strategy Lead for Google Play, you will be responsible for crafting a compelling narrative around the Play Apps Strategy, its key pillars and the performance against this strategy. You will do this by partnering across Play leadership to deliver insightful narratives around key initiatives, performance, and other areas of executive interest to help facilitate data-driven decision-making and strategic planning for Google Play Apps. You will require deep collaboration with other Google Product Areas, and respective Strategy Operations teams in crafting and executing on a shared Google games strategy. You will lead executive discussions and presentations in a fast-paced, technical organization in a global environment.

Google Play offers music, movies, books, apps and games for devices, powered by the cloud. It syncs across devices and on the web. As part of the Android and Mobile team, Googlers working on Google Play do everything from engineering our backend systems, to shaping product strategy, to forming great content partnerships. They make it possible for people to do things like buy an ebook or song on their Android phone, then have it instantly available on their laptop. The Google Play team enhances the Android ecosystem by giving developers and partners a premium store where they can reach millions of users.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$248,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Help to craft strategy and business plans and articulate Apps performance versus industry.

  • Identify and structure business and product problems and effectively communicate challenges and opportunities.

  • Engage and influence executive stakeholders and cross-functional partners, obtain buy in for potential solutions, adapt messaging and suggested recommendations based on feedback.

  • Stay up to date on industry trends that impacts our Apps strategy.

  • Visualize data to illustrate patterns and trends, craft sophisticated narratives, and synthesize and communicate findings, initiatives and progress to leadership with executive-ready updates and thoughtful facilitation.
