The Opportunity | Senior Electrical Assembler .

Reporting into the Production Manager, the Electrical Assembler Snr., will support the production and assembly of various rugged enclosures and integrated electronic sub-systems. You will facilitate production, assembly and fabrication of electrical components, or products using a variety of tools and equipment according to required specifications in a selected area of a production line.

You will support assembly of ruggedized mechanical enclosure and sub-assembly cabinets during electrical integration stage. Support the assembly of integrated sub systems and assemblies in accordance with laid down blueprints to make sure all products meet the MIL Standards and ready for deployment by the customers in a timely fashion and by ensuring quality at source and compliance were maintained throughout the production life cycle.

Location: New London, CT

Salary Information: $24.62 - $30.00 per hr.

Your Challenge:

  • Routes, wires, assembles, and installs electrical and electronic components in ruggedized cabinets, electronics enclosures and consoles to complete functionality of integrated enclosures such as main junction and terminal boxes, main control switch panels, and instruments and computerized or uninterrupted power supply panels, according to specifications, using jig boards, hand tools, and equipment.

  • Cuts wire to specified lengths, using wire cutters. Cuts plastic sleeves and slips sleeves over wire ends to insulate connections. Crimps terminal eyelets and lugs to wire ends, using hand or machine crimping devices.

  • Routes, combs, twists, wraps, ties, and attaches wire to terminal points, according to jig board layout, using soldering gun and hand tools. Connects wiring to accessories, such as relays, circuit breakers, plugs, condensers, switches, and installs accessory assemblies in electrical or electronic units, using soldering gun and hand tools.

  • Conducts continuity, insulation resistance, dielectric strength, and operational tests of electrical assemblies, components, wire harness, and plugs, using ohmmeter, test lights, and other electrical testing instruments.

  • Assemble components to a final configured product utilizing process and drawing instructions and blueprints and specialized tooling and fixtures, measuring equipment and hand tools.

  • Reads and interprets work orders, blueprints, and specifications to determine established assembly methods.

  • Work as individual or in a team environment.

  • Stage inspection of product at required interval to verify accuracy of work. May final inspect product to relevant dispatch processes and sign release paperwork prior to delivery to customer. Report any quality control issues to supervisor.

What You Bring:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.

  • A Technical Qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering is an added advantage.

  • AS Degree in Electrical/Electronic or Computer Engineering from a recognized accredited University considered a plus.

Work Experience:

A minimum of Five (5) years professional work experience in electrical assembly working environment is required; ability to assemble electrical components, pieces or products using a variety of tools and equipment, ability to review the design, drawing and check completeness of rugged electronics enclosures and consoles or has worked extensively in a similar position is required.

Supervisory Skills:

Ability to supervise and lead a team of electro- mechanical assembly staff in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Highly detail oriented and organized.

  • Basic reading skills. Must be able to follow directions.

  • Has self-motivation to perform work accurately and thoroughly.

  • Ensure employees follow company safety and operational policies.

  • Ability to interpret product drawings, procedure, and test documents.

  • Ability to perform and train employees on all Electrical sub-assemblies and bare racks.

  • Ability to apply critical thinking and reasoning to solve a problem and develop a new concept or ideas.

Qualifications of Successful Candidate:

  • J-STD-001, Preferred.

  • IPC/WHMA-A-620, Preferred

  • Experience conducting IPC training and certifications, Bonus.

  • 6000-2250 – NAVSEA Shipboard Termination and Testing, Bonus.
