Description:

The Finance Data Science & Analytics team drives strategic decisions for the business by applying statistical, innovative, analytical approaches and machine learning techniques. The candidate will be part of a quantitative finance team made up of highly talented individuals with strong intellectual curiosity. The essence of the work involves gathering, manipulating and synthesizing data (customer behaviors, transactions, attributes, etc.), predictive modeling and analytics to drive actionable recommendations. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to work with the leadership team, gain deeper understanding of AXP business and build key business relationships.

Candidate will support the analytics and forecasting for AXP Billed Business. This role will require collaborating cross-functionally with LFO teams, as well as with our BU FP&A teams and Enterprise FP&A teams within CP&A.The candidate will be afforded the opportunity to not only observe, but also influence, how strategic decisions are made at senior levels of American Express, and provide recommendations on areas of improvement, while also leading ad-hoc, strategic initiatives related to billed business.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Understand and interested in analyzing customer billed business behavioral

• Proficiency in dealing with large quantities of complex data and ability to derive actionable insights

• Sufficient understanding / familiarity with SQL / Hive, Python, and machine learning modelling techniques

• Prior experience or exposure to Power BI or other visualization tools preferred

• Demonstrate ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences, bridging the gap between academic outputs and real-world applications

• B.S. / M.S. or Ph.D. in a quantitative field [e.g., Applied Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science] strongly preferred

Responsibilities include:

• Leverage quantitative skills to provide decision support to business teams on key initiatives

• Assist in developing/enhancing spend metric predictive modeling that incorporates card member behaviors and increased level of data granularity

• Use machine learning techniques to improve forecasts and produce business insights; leverage visualization and reporting tools

• Understand and adopt emerging technology that can affect the application of the quantitative analytical approaches and technique to solve business problems

• Partner across Finance, Risk and Business to derive strategic insights and evaluate profitability

• Provide thought leadership into key findings and actionable recommendations to influence business strategy

• Develop product profitability analytics to support investment and strategic decisions

Qualifications

Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually bonus benefits
