This is a private island, where there is 1 bridge on and off.

Correctional work is unique not a lot of ppl do it, and ppl get scared due to negative press coverage (news reports on violence, corruption, etc.) off putting especially to people's family members. Worker ON Rikers island is actually safer than inpatient psych hospitals, because there is a HUGE security presence. Officers of the law are present at all times, and they escort patients to and from.

If someone is not interested, due to media and being scared then do not present. There is security clearance that has to happen, restrictions what to bring on the island (cannot bring metal or glass containers onto island, laptops, cell phones - not personal, but are assigned to phone list and provided a phone onsite for these roles specifically).

How to get onto the island:

Employees can have a car. There is a pass that is given to them. There is also a bus.

On and off is 1 bridge; easiest to have a car so must have a great license for driving. There is a busing system but it is long and hard to get there. Anyone in the roles get then a gate 1 pass, and they can drive directly to facility.

Rikers is a government facility. Closed older buildings, but they are government facilities that look like "public schools on the inside" very dynamic environments.?

Pay Details: $320,000.00 per year
