Genesis10 is currently seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) for a contract working onsite lasting through December 2024 with an insurance company in New York, NY.

Our team is looking for a Performance Test Engineer to join Planning Solutions. Our department, is responsible for our proprietary financial planning platform that lets our advisors deliver multifaceted, dynamic and comprehensive plans that uniquely showcase our conviction for financial planning with insurance and investment solutions.
On our team, as a Performance Test Engineer, your job is to ensure the quality of the financial planning solutions product by validating performance, scalability, and resiliency in our software solutions by designing, developing, and driving tests, frameworks, and tools.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Applies engineering standard methodologies to analyze and develop software solutions.
- Develops software using established development and continuous integration practices.
- Uses established monitoring and automation processes.
- Conducts code evaluations.
- Participates in setting team standards and best practices.
- Ability and tenacity to take each performance issue as far as possible, often to the point of being able to suggest a fix
- Skilled at communicating the need & approach for Performance Tuning.
- Has experience using testing tools/ frameworks relevant to their work (e.g. Jmeter,K6,gatling, loadrunner...).
- Build comprehensive performance reports and share them with key collaborators to identify and triage performance gaps
- Triage performance engineering support activities as required under the instructions of senior engineers & architects
- Ability to Develop performance scripts using k6 and Load Runner based on features/requirements/stories.
- Capable of implementing and designing, with appropriate guidance, performance testing at various application layers (API, middleware, database, infrastructure/enviroent)
- Has a strong understanding of system load and stress levels for relevant applications in the domains they support.
- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes Performance tuning concepts
- Provide expertise in designing load, stress, and baseline using CI/CD methodologies
- Identify Performance enviroent and acceptance criteria, test enviroent configuration, and participate in test planning, design, and execution
- Define requirements and identify appropriate performance testing strategies and approach
- Define Performance Test Plan and Test Analysis Approach
- Implement and monitor test scripts to assess functionality, reliability, performance, and quality of the service or product
- Identify and remedy defects within the production process
- Evaluating, Designing, and implementing automation framework
- Monitor and fine-tune automation framework capabilities
- Assisting fellow team members & guiding them in case of issues
- 3-5 years of professional experience required in Performance Engineering / Testing and performance testing tools
- 3+ years of professional experience with Java/Python/JavaScript
- Proficient in REST API, Microservices, and API integration testing
- Testing Automation Tools and Frameworks such as: Webdriver IO, Cucumber, Sauce Labs, Mocha, Applitools, etc.
- Excellent understanding of REST architecture and HTTP response codes
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
- Familiarity with using continuous integration and deployment concepts
- Familiarity with public cloud and associated technologies (AWS, Azure, Containerization)
- Strong technical skills
- Understanding of your business domain
- Understanding of version control using git
- Proven ability to train and mentor others
- Strong analytical skills
- Deep technical ability in performance testing methodologies
- Familiarity with Chaos Testing and chaos testing tools
- Proven understanding of HTTP calls, and web and browser debugging skills are needed
- Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate optimally in a team enviroent
- Previous experience with functional methodologies in test engineering or equivalent experience.
- Highly technical and analytical hands-on experience in prior professional, educational, or personal projects.
- Understands Test Automation principles.
- Understands the value of test first methodologies (e.g. BDD, TDD, 3 amigos).
- Experience in testing frameworks as well as automated test frameworks
- Has experience using language-specific testing frameworks relevant to their work.
- Independently builds or refines test strategies & plans.
- Ability to write test cases based on features/requirements/stories.
- Ability to define and complete test monitoring, control, execution, and completion activities.
- Skilled at communicating the need & approach for Performance Test Analysis
Must Have:
- 3-5 years of solid SDET experience
- Proficient in UI/API Test Automation
- Must be Proficient in Javascript/NodeJS
- 3-5 years of experience
- Proficient with performance testing at various application layers (API, middleware, database, infrastructure/environment)
- DevOps experience
- Experience in Agile processes and related technologies
- Experienced in public cloud and associated technologies (AWS, Containerization)
- Experience in performance testing at various application layers (API, middleware, database, infrastructure/environment)
- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes Performance tuning concepts
