Position Summary:

Reporting directly to the Engineering Manager, applicant will be responsible for supporting scopes of work activities associated with components, assemblies, and machines in the Centrifuge Project. Provides support to the Centrifuge Program to accomplish goals and objectives while ensuring compliance to Centrus standards and practices.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist in designing, building, and troubleshooting the following
    • High vacuum systems
    • Helium leak detection equipment
    • Composite parts and assemblies
    • Machined parts and assemblies
  • Assist in design and analysis of structural and dynamic systems
  • Design manufacturing equipment as needed for manufacturing activities
  • Develop specifications for fabrication materials and equipment
  • Assist in the creation, review, and approval of engineering packages to be used for fabrication
  • Establish procedures for assembly and repair of fabricated components
  • Drive process improvement activities for internal activities and external suppliers
  • Manage multiple priorities and ensure that deliverables are met within schedule and budget
  • Adheres to company policies, procedures, code of conduct, security, and environmental and safety program requirements
  • Contribute to cross functional teams including design, engineering, manufacturing, operations, testing, quality and purchasing

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a professional environment
    • a masters may be used to substitute for experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with lean manufacturing
  • Project Management experience
  • Masters degree in Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering
  • 3-5 years CAD experience (CREO experience a plus)
  • Experience using Ansys FEA
  • Preference will be given to applicants currently holding an active DOE Q-level security clearance
  • Centrifuge design, test, and/or manufacturing experience is a plus
  • Experience with QL-1 or QL-2 quality parts/systems
