Position Overview

The Nuclear Engineering VP will be responsible for simultaneously managing multiple projects, pursuits and developing relationships within commercial and government markets to provide engineering design services and operational execution. He or She will be expected to have a firm understanding of the team’s core technical capabilities and the needs of major clients to provide engineering services and management. The successful candidate should have existing, strong relationships with multiple targeted clients in the commercial nuclear area and should have established contact with other potential, secondary clients that could be leveraged in the future. The role requires the successful candidate to engage both new and existing clients to solidify strong relationships and best position his or her team to build a stable and growing backlog. He or She will help build and execute short-term and long-term market strategies to set the best course supporting the overall business line.

Location

Primary location is Lenexa, KS. Other Kiewit major Hub location maybe considered. Position will require up to 50% travels to client and project locations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and growth of nuclear engineering services with oversight of engineering team

  • Has P&L responsibility for nuclear engineering market

  • Provide direction and leadership to manage a team of engineers and subconsultants, and ensure they are prepared to execute and deliver.

  • Identify market potential (addressable market), target opportunities, key partners and clients, bidding strategy, market risks, industry events, and targeted annual bid and award revenue for the nuclear market.

  • Coordinates with the leadership and operations staff to obtain necessary resources to estimate and respond to RFPs

  • Provides multiple touch points to ensure constant client engagement with key client decision-makers, teaming partners and affiliate organizations

  • Analyzes market data to identify trends and opportunities in the market. Provides input for strategic direction and possible expansion of design engineering services.

  • Coordinates with proposal managers and marketing managers to produce deliverables (proposals, brochures, presentations, etc.) necessary to achieve capture goals

  • Leads client, OEM and 3rd party engineering partner contract negotiations in concert with Operations and Legal to achieve a cohesive execution team

  • Leads go/no go bid decisions with senior leaders

  • Is responsible for proper and efficient utilization of division resources to achieve overall objectives

Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters degree in a related technical field with 20+ years of progressively complex experience in managing multidiscipline projects, engineering and business development activities relevant to the nuclear market.

  • Licensed Professional Engineer is a plus.

  • Successful history of leading and growing an engineering team.

  • Develop strategy and new commercial transaction that is typical for Design/Build, EPCs and Construction Management in the U.S. nuclear market.

  • Strong communication, leadership, presentation, and interpersonal skills are required to enable an effective interface with other departments, all levels of management, professional and support staff, customers, potential customers, and government representatives.

  • Candidate should have thorough understanding of design engineering processes in the U.S. nuclear facilities.

  • Must be able to travel at the demands of the clients and opportunity timelines necessary to achieve the desired capture results. A flexible schedule is essential.
